Central to my work is an interest in an art that begins with the personal.

An art that somehow embraces both pleasure and, not pain exactly, but tensions, frictions, the problematic. Not confronting issues but experiences, memories, desires - experiences of love, which are hard to represent. The work moves me and, hopefully, the viewer into a place beyond the everyday and usual understanding of the world. This new place will be known through a felt knowledge and only gradually will this grow into a new and conscious understanding. I am concerned to draw the viewer into the work either through active participation, the use of 3D space or the use of disparate and tactile materials.
