‘Absence’ is an installation which was shown, in part, in Ireland in August 2008. The work was developed further and shown in St Mary at the Quay, a disused mediaeval church in Ipswich, in August 2009. The installation is comprised of the following pieces:

o      ‘Spire’ an 18 foot high tubular steel ‘pyramid’ placed in the nave of the church. From this, wax and fabric elements are suspended over a central fabric floorpiece.

o      ‘Grass Wedding Dress’. An aluminium plinth bearing a wedding dress which is growing grass.

o      ‘Veil’. Dyeline copy print

o      ‘Tombpiece’. Deconstructed baby dress, embroidery, fabric.

o      ‘Fontpiece’. Laser cut Victorian christening gown, fabric and found objects.

o      ‘Sanctity I’. Cast wax and print.

o      ‘Sanctity II’. Cast wax and feathers.

o      ‘Sanctity III’. Cast Wax.

o      ‘Virgins Tears’. Printed and laser cut acrylic with silk thread.

o      A series of layered, stitched prints were included in the installation.

The piece takes the viewer on a journey, both physical and emotional, often through feelings of loss (absence) and redemption (presence). Though delicate and, at first glance, pretty, this work has been variously described as "chilling and very powerful" and "dark but massively intriguing".
