Welcome to my residency blog.

Monday 9th August

Not sure a blog is a great idea........but will give it a try.  Induction to print workshop today - very impressed with the organisation of the print area here at the Art House (am sure I will 'pinch' some ideas).  The Art House is altogether impressive - this is like a mini (grown up) art school - great to have all the studios with artists working (the work around is much more impressive than suggested by the website).  I'm working in a 2nd floor studio, complete with studio style roof lights: a great white space - just a bit daunting.  Bill had organised a life model this afternoon so I joined in - Suzi is an excellent model and her stillness and quiet inner strength communicated powerfully.  1 other resident artist in today - she's here longer term and goes off to other places.  Another, likewise, will be popping in for a day later in the week.  Most artists are f/t here.  The bell of the cathedral clock is chiming 10 0'clock and yet another siren is wailing somewhere in the city.  .......and my work? - ideas to be worked through - starting tomorrow.

Thursday 12th August

Somehow the last couple of days have disappeared - but the work is moving.  Now exploring ideas losely using textiles.  I want to use some paper clay, but that will have to wait until I'm back home.  Will get into print today.   Still not convinced of this diary/blog idea - just need to work - not 'talk' about it!

Tuesday 17th August

Well the diary/blog didn't work (lots of notes in my sketchbook but not here).  The residency is drawing to a close - I have a direction for an installation and also for a series of prints.  The next few months will see me working on both and, hopefully, realising the piece:  watch the website for new images.
